    Cranial Sacral Therapy

Cranial Sacral Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive, calming technique experienced by the whole body.

Palpation is the process of using the hands to assess the body, especially while feeling for restrictions, disconnection and misalignment. It’s equally important as a diagnostic tool and as a therapy.

It’s mostly sensed at the head and sacrum and through the cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) which surrounds and cushions the brain and spinal cord.

With a very light touch the practitioner listens to the body and CSF feeling for motion, rhythm and restrictions and then gently helps to facilitate movements that release and restore the body to a place of comfort.

Manual Therapy for Cranial and Spinal Nerves

Did you know that you have twelve cranial nerves that have unique, specialized and hyper-sensitive impacts on our cognitive, emotional, physical and spiritual state of being?

And did you know that specific activation, clearing, pacifying or integration, depending on your needs, can create subtle changes to our entire being?

This process is called ‘Manual Therapy for Cranial and Spinal Nerves’. It’s a non-invasive, touch based modality, to the nervous networks of the head and whole body which are often delivered while you recline in a chair or relax on my table, to receive.

It gently helps us restore and rebalance from physical and emotional traumas and supports the brain, central nervous system, cerebral spinal fluid and dura (membrane) that protects and nourishes the brain.

Know that you have the wisdom and physical memories to welcome healing.
But yes, sometimes we need someone skilled to give our body the nudge and remind us of what wholeness feels like.

    Muscle Energy Technique

    Positional Release Therapy

Positional Release Therapy (PRT) is also known as Strain Counter Strain and Structural Relief Therapy. It is a passive technique that corrects muscle, bone and joint dysfunction. This is done by placing the body in an ideal condition of comfort, shortening the muscles and reprogramming the jammed signals of the muscles to and from the brain.

    Visceral Manipulation

Visceral Manipulation is a gentle technique used to improve organ function. When one organ doesn’t move in harmony with its companionable viscera (organs) due to a variety of reasons such as abnormal tone, adhesions or surgery, it works against the body’s other organs and structures. With a gentle touch Viscera can be shifted and vitality improved so they can work at their optimal well being.

Let’s talk about what is happening. There is no time like now… to step up, make the changes, adjust the body, calm the soul and reach out for help.

As a Registered Massage Therapist I’m accepted on most extended health care plans.

    • I go for regular check-ins, as my job is physically taxing as a pilates and yoga teacher and I have a sensitively balanced system, with a long list of past injuries. I preach and practice self-care and couldn't think of a better compliment to my mental and physical regimes than Robin’s diverse and subtle healing methods.

When I arrive for treatment we sit and discuss any concerns I have then using Muscle Energy and PRT she gently realigns any of my vertebrae or ribs that have gone out of place. As a lifelong yogi and very hyper mobile person, this tends to happen to me.

Previously when other practitioners have employed more forceful ways of realigning my body...it has not been happy. What Robin does simply feels right.

My favourite of her treatment tools is Cranial Sacral Therapy, which makes me feel like there is a whole orchestra at play in my body and Robin is the conductor. With time we have become so attuned to each other, that treatment has taken on a whole new level.

    • Pain, pain and more pain is what my life was becoming. Injuries in my joints, pain in my back, frequent migraines and the clincher...pain every time after I ate. For approximately 9 months I searched for answers specific to my tummy problems through traditional doctors, naturopaths and well-intentioned friends/family. I had no results other than an increase in problems.

Previously I’d seen Robin Goldfarb about my shoulder and back pain and received good results. I found out that this multi-talented, educated and skilled woman also did Visceral Manipulation and I’ve had great results and am pain free when I don’t eat the foods that bother me.

As a result I’ve also lost weight and had less migraines and less pain in my joints, which I now know is related to the foods I’ve cut out and receiving Visceral Manipulation.

When I was at a complete loss...frustrated, sad and feeling helpless, I received answers in the most unexpected way. Don’t give up on your health and please allow Robin to take you to the next level in healing. Her intention is pure and her focus and goal are YOUR health.

    • After I had had my first hip replacement surgery and was waiting for the next one, I thought I could return to work as a teacher. I then started having severe pain in my back and called my massage who suggested that I see someone with more expertise and referred me to Robin.

I had been in chronic pain for 15 years and had seen many specialists and therapists during that time. Each diagnosis was slow in coming as were treatment results.

When I first met Robin she was able to give me an estimate on how long it would take for the pain to dissipate. I cried. She listened with so much compassion to my story. It suddenly became obvious to me that I was overwhelmed with not only pain but with the responsibility of going back to work so soon after surgery.

She wrote down a list of suggestions to help me lower my pain and stress levels and suggested I learn how to ask for help. I completed everything on her list and my life changed for the better.

I received more help, compassion and direction from Robin in just one hour than I had received from doctors in years.

I continue to work with Robin for headaches and menopause symptoms. The Cranial Sacral Therapy works well for me and has reduced my need for medication.

I can't imagine my life without Robin. Thank you!

    • As a veteran of many types of endurance sports, my body requires a lot of maintenance to ensure that it’s kept in optimal condition. Robin helps me by performing assisted stretching, aligning my vertebrae, correcting torsions in my core, and relieving tension in my neck and shoulders.

I also have many chronic health conditions associated with my being HIV positive which Robin is able to alleviate through the use of Cranial Sacral Therapy work.

All of these treatment techniques are very helpful in maintaining my health and well being.

My sessions with Robin help me to deal with the many sources of stress that I encounter in my busy life where I attempt to balance a career in IT and excelling in endurance sports.

    • I have been a client of Robin's for the past 7 years and she has helped me tremendously in dealing with rheumatoid arthritis. Robin continues to be one of the first practitioners I call upon when I need help, whether my body is going through a physical flare up or dealing with the emotional stress brought on by chronic periods of pain.

Her expertise as a Cranial Sacral practitioner along with her compassion, intuition, and wonderful sense of humour has helped me maintain balance in my life and regain a sense of power of my body.

Robin's thoughtful manner, inquisitive nature, and her ability to explore a person's situation fully within a short period of time, make for a unique client/patient relationship.

      Mark Goldfarb, Certified Shiatsu Therapist

Incorporating traditional eastern medical theory with western anatomy, physiology and self-care, shiatsu is a non-invasive, holistic manual therapy that draws its working principles from the same well as acupuncture but does not involve needles or mechanical instruments.

A shiatsu therapist sensitively uses thumbs, palms, fingers and sometimes elbows and knees to apply firm pressure at various points of the body to correct the flow of ki and relieve a wide spectrum of symptoms. Gentle supportive stretching techniques, joint rotations and structural release may also be used to encourage the recipient’s innate self-healing mechanisms.
