    Muscle Energy Technique

    Positional Release Therapy

Positional Release Therapy (PRT) is also known as Strain Counter Strain and Structural Relief Therapy. It is a passive technique that corrects muscle, bone and joint dysfunction. Dowsing is the detection and transformation of energy.  It has always been known as a way to find water and minerals, but today modern dowsers also use their skills to detect, transform and balance physical, mental, emotional and spiritual energies. Simply put, dowsing enables the conscious mind to connect with the subconscious mind, which is capable of detecting very subtle energy changes. We live in an electromagnetic, vibratory universe, and just as today’s sophisticated technology is capable of tuning in to a variety of radio and television signals, so our brains and bodies can isolate and act on individual frequencies within the environment. Does dowsing have anything to do with religion? Dowsing is not a religious practice, although many people who dowse are deeply spiritual. Learning to use your dowsing senses are like learning to use your ears to distinguish the different instruments and notes played by an orchestra. We can “tune” our subtle senses to detect the subtle play of energies in our environment, just as we can learn to pick out the distinctive sounds of a clarinet playing a melody in a symphony. Healing and Medicine Dowsing is widely used to detect and assess the causes of imbalances that lead to a variety of symptoms. Pain, structural imbalances and poor health in general can be helped by dowsing in determining what the problem is and narrowing down the most suitable techniques to use to resolve these issues. Dowsing can detect what a person’s body needs. Food intolerance and allergies is another area where dowsing has been of help. Many times we feel that certain foods are bothering us or that we have an allergy to certain foods. We can find the answers through dowsing.

    • I moved to Vancouver nearly 6 years ago. I have been having cranial sacral therapy for general health and well being since I was a kid and so was eager to find a practitioner. I had been having treatment by the same woman for most of my life so was focused on finding the right one for me in Vancouver. There aren’t many here. So I put out a request into the universe to send me a fabulous one, Robin called me less than 2 weeks later. She was seeking my professional services as a Pilates and yoga teacher for a client of hers. Once we sorted that, I knew she was the person I had been looking for. I go for regular check-ins, as my job is physically taxing and I have a sensitively balanced system, with a long list of past injuries. I preach and practice self-care and couldn't think of a better compliment to my mental and physical regimes than Robin’s diverse and subtle healing methods. Often when I arrive for treatment she has already dowsed (a fantastic way of assessing and using one’s intuitive knowledge to make selections) and therefore knows just what I am going to ask her to treat. We still sit and discuss any concerns I have. Then using Muscle Energy and PRT she gently realigns any of my vertebrae or ribs that have gone out of place. As a lifelong yogi and very hyper mobile person, this tends to happen to me. Previously when other practitioners have employed more forceful ways of realigning my body...it has not been happy. What Robin does simply feels right. My favourite of her treatment tools is Cranial Sacral Therapy, which makes me feel like their is a whole orchestra at play in my body and Robin is the conductor. With time we have become so attuned to each other, that treatment has taken on a whole new level. When I was losing my grandmother earlier this year, I received the phone call to come to Montreal while on holiday on the Sunshine Coast. I was sitting overwhelmed by my emotions, when, in walked Robin. She was just where I needed her, when I needed her. As many people know losing a loved one taxes our whole system. As I landed back in Vancouver after having said goodbye to my grandmother, I instantly received a phone call from Robin who had sensed (my un-notified) return. Telling me she thought I was back and in need of some care. She was right!

    • Pain, pain and more pain is what my life was becoming. Injuries in my joints, pain in my back, frequent migraines and the clincher...pain every time after I ate. For approximately 9 months I searched for answers specific to my tummy problems through traditional doctors, naturopaths and well-intentioned friends/family. I had no results other than an increase in problems. Previously I had seen Robin Goldfarb about my shoulder and back pain and received good results. I found out that this multi-talented, educated and skilled woman also did dowsing for food allergies. She immediately scheduled an appointment for me. After going through an extensive list of all foods/spices and dowsing on each one, she was able to identify foods that I was over-sensitive to, as well as the foods I should enjoy only occasionally. I don’t understand dowsing, but Robin was obviously able to connect my energy to each food as she checked. It was a little overwhelming for me, finding out all the things that I could no longer eat and enjoy. Robin was extremely sensitive to this and through her patience, compassion and insight; I found the courage to try. I followed my new meal plan and had immediate GREAT results! I FINALLY am pain-free when eating, and only have complications when I inadvertently eat something I shouldn’t have, unawares. I’ve also lost weight and had less migraines and less pain in my joints, which I now think, could have been related to the food. Ultimately, my hope is that if you’ve tried everything else...please try Robin. When I was at a complete loss...frustrated, sad and feeling helpless, I received answers in the most unexpected way. Don’t give up on your health and please allow Robin Goldfarb to take you to the next level in healing. Her intention is pure and her focus and goal are YOUR health.

    • After I had had my first hip replacement surgery and was waiting for the next one, I thought I could return to work as a teacher. But I started having severe pain in my back. I called a massage therapist that I had previously worked with to ask for her help. She said that I should really see someone with more expertise and she suggested Robin. I called Robin and she made space for me within a day. I had been in chronic pain for about 15 years so I had seen many specialists and therapists during that time. Each diagnosis was slow in coming as was treatment results. When I first met Robin she was able to tell me the source of my pain, decrease my pain level and tell me how long it would take for the pain to dissipate. I cried. She listened with so much compassion to my story. It suddenly became obvious to me that I was overwhelmed with not only pain but with the responsibility of going back to work so soon after surgery.  She wrote down a list of suggestions to help me lower my pain and stress level. She suggested I stop working and learn how to ask for help. I completed everything on her list and my life changed for the better. I received more help, compassion and direction from Robin in just one hour than I had received from doctors in years. I continue to work with Robin and I have also started BioAcoustic Therapy for headaches and menopause symptoms. This new therapy works well for me and has reduced my need for medication. I can't imagine my life without Robin. Thank you!

    • As veteran of many types of endurance sports, my body requires a lot of maintenance to ensure that it is kept in optimal condition.  Robin helps me by performing assisted stretching, aligning my spinal vertebrae, correcting torsions in my core, massaging my IT Band and relieving tension in my neck and shoulders.  I also have many chronic health conditions associated with my being HIV positive which Robin is able to alleviate through the use of massage and energy work.  All of these treatment techniques are very helpful in maintaining my health and well being.  I look forward to every session that I have with Robin, especially when there is time for cranial sacral work because I find that it completely relaxes me.  My sessions with Robin help me to deal with the many sources of stress that I encounter in my busy life where I attempt to balance a career in IT and excelling in endurance sports.

    • I have been a client of Robin's for the past 7 years and she has helped me tremendously in dealing with rheumatoid arthritis. Robin continues to be one of the first practitioners I call upon when I need help, whether my body is going through a physical flare up or dealing with the emotional stress brought on by chronic periods of pain. Her expertise as a cranial sacral practitioner along with her compassion, intuition, and wonderful sense of humour has helped me maintain balance in my life and regain a sense of power of my body. Robin's thoughtful manner, inquisitive nature, and her ability to explore a person's situation fully within a short period of time, make for a unique client/patient relationship.

    Mark Goldfarb, Certified Shiatsu Therapist

Incorporating traditional eastern medical theory with western anatomy, physiology and self-care, shiatsu is a non-invasive, holistic manual therapy that draws its working principles from the same well as acupuncture but does not involve needles or mechanical instruments.

A shiatsu therapist sensitively uses thumbs, palms, fingers and sometimes elbows and knees to apply firm pressure at various points of the body to correct the flow of ki and relieve a wide spectrum of symptoms. Gentle supportive stretching techniques, joint rotations and structural release may also be used to encourage the recipient’s innate self-healing mechanisms.
